Carriers we represent

Every page on this site says we compare carriers before you choose. This page is where that claim becomes checkable.

What an appointment means

Appointed with five carriers, captive to none

An appointment is a contract that lets an independent agency quote and bind policies for a carrier. Yoos Insurance holds appointments with Travelers, Safeco, Progressive, National General, and The Philadelphia Contributionship, which is why one call produces several competing quotes.

A captive agent, whatever the brand on the door, can sell one company’s products at one company’s prices. An independent agency answers to its clients instead. When we recommend a policy, it is because that carrier won the comparison for your specific situation, not because it is the only name we are allowed to say.

No carrier pays us to be listed here, and none of them sees a quote before you do. Commission rates across our carriers are broadly similar, which keeps the advice clean: the policy that fits you best is also the one we want to place.

The five

Who we quote, and where each one is strong

Each carrier earns its place by winning often enough for a particular kind of household or business.

Travelers

One of the largest property and casualty insurers in the country, with depth across both personal and business lines. Often the strongest all-round quote when a household bundles home, auto, and umbrella together.

Safeco

A Liberty Mutual company focused on personal lines through independent agents. Competitive on auto and home packages, with endorsement options that suit older housing stock.

Progressive

A national leader in auto insurance with sharp pricing across a wide range of driver profiles, and a frequent winner on motorcycle, boat, and specialty vehicle quotes.

National General

An Allstate company with flexible underwriting, which makes it a strong option for drivers and properties that standard markets price harshly.

The Philadelphia Contributionship

Founded in 1752 and the oldest property insurer in America, still writing homes in this region. A local institution with deep experience in the rowhomes and twins this county is built from.

In practice

How the comparison actually works

We take one set of details from you and run it across the carriers that fit your risk. The quotes come back with different premiums and, just as often, different terms: one carrier includes water backup where another charges for it, one surcharges a young driver harder, one is friendlier to a home with an older roof.

You see the meaningful differences laid out before you commit, and the comparison repeats at renewal. If your carrier drifts expensive, we move you. If it is still the best fit, we tell you to stay. Either answer is a good outcome, because the alternative is guessing.

Questions

Common questions

Does it cost more to buy through an independent agency?
No. Carriers pay the agency a commission whether you buy from them directly or through us, so the comparison work costs you nothing extra. It often costs less overall, because five carriers competing tends to beat one carrier deciding.
Can you quote a carrier that is not listed here?
Not directly. We can only bind policies with carriers we hold appointments with, and we would rather be plain about that than imply we shop the whole market. Within these five, most households and small businesses find a strong fit.
Which carrier is the cheapest?
It changes by risk and by year. A carrier that wins for a two-car family in a brick twin can lose badly for a landlord two streets over. That volatility is the argument for comparing every time rather than assuming.
What happens at claim time?
You can call the carrier directly or call us first. Either way we stay involved, because a local agent who knows your policy is useful leverage when a claim gets slow or complicated.
