File a claim

Direct claim lines for every carrier we represent, and what to do in the first hour so the claim goes smoothly.

Before anything else

What to do in the first hour

Make everyone safe, involve the authorities where it applies, stop the damage from getting worse, and document everything before it gets cleaned up. Claims are won and lost on the first hour’s photographs.

For a car accident: move to safety, call the police, exchange information, and photograph vehicles, positions, and the scene before anything moves. For property losses: stop the water or secure the opening if you can do it safely, then photograph the damage and everything it touched before cleanup begins. Reasonable emergency repairs to prevent further damage are generally expected, so keep receipts for tarps, plywood, and water extraction.

What not to do: admit fault at a scene, discard damaged property before an adjuster rules on it, or give a recorded statement to another party’s insurer without talking to someone on your side first.

Paper wins claims

What to document before you call

Photographs of all damage from several angles, the date and time, how the loss happened in your own words, and an inventory of everything affected. For accidents, add the other party’s insurance details, the police report number, and witness contacts.

Write the sequence of events down while it is fresh. Adjusters ask the same questions weeks apart, and consistent answers move claims; reconstructed memories stall them. If receipts, serial numbers, or purchase records exist for damaged items, gather them early rather than during the back-and-forth.

Where we come in

When to call Yoos

Call us when you are unsure whether to claim at all, when a claim stalls or an offer looks wrong, or when you simply want someone who reads policies for a living on your side of the table. That service is part of what your premium already bought.

The judgment call before filing matters more than people expect: claim frequency affects future pricing, so a loss barely above the deductible is sometimes better absorbed, and that arithmetic is exactly the conversation to have with us first. Once a claim is running, we stay involved as leverage: an agency that places business with a carrier gets phone calls returned.

Reach us at (610) 259-6700, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, or [email protected] any time.

What happens next

After you report

The carrier assigns an adjuster, usually within a business day or two, who inspects, requests documents, and issues a coverage decision and estimate. Repairs, replacement, or payment follow, minus your deductible, and we stay available at every step.

Keep every claim number, adjuster name, and date. If the process drags past what seems reasonable, or the estimate misses obvious damage, that is your cue to call us rather than to accept the first answer. Most claims resolve cleanly. The ones that do not are why the agency relationship exists.

Questions

Common questions

Should I call the carrier or Yoos first?
For active emergencies and urgent losses, call the carrier’s line above so the claim starts immediately. When timing is not critical, or you are unsure whether filing makes sense at all, call us first and we will help you decide and report.
Will filing a claim raise my rates?
It can, depending on the type, size, and your history, which is why the file-or-absorb decision on smaller losses deserves a conversation before the claim exists. We will give you an honest read on the trade-off.
What if the other driver’s insurer contacts me?
You are not obliged to give a recorded statement to another party’s insurer, and it is usually unwise before advice. Refer them to your carrier’s claim, and talk to us if anything about the approach feels off.
How long do I have to report a claim?
Policies require prompt notice, and evidence degrades fast regardless of deadlines. Report as soon as the situation is stable, even if you are still gathering documents. A claim can be supplemented; a stale report can be questioned.
